Procurement & Tax Compliance FAQ
Why do you provide a W-8BEN-E instead of a W-9?
A W-9 form is exclusively for U.S.-based entities. As an Australian corporation, IRS regulations mandate that we provide Form W-8BEN-E to certify our foreign status. This is the official IRS equivalent of a W-9 for international vendors and is the correct document for your compliance files.
Is the W-8BEN-E accepted by U.S. public institutions?
Yes. U.S. school districts, state universities, and government agencies regularly process the W-8BEN-E. It is the standard requirement for any international transaction and satisfies the documentation needs of your internal auditing and the IRS.
Will the district be required to withhold taxes from our payment?
No. Because the United States and Australia share a formal Tax Treaty, and we provide a valid W-8BEN-E with a completed Treaty Claim (Part III), we are exempt from U.S. backup withholding. You may process payment for the full invoice amount exactly as you would for a domestic vendor.
How does this affect the Purchase Order (PO) process?
It does not change your internal process. You can issue and process a PO as usual. Our W-8BEN-E provides all the necessary information (including our US EIN) to add Crazy Town Parties Pty Ltd to your district’s vendor system.
Will shipping take longer since you are an Australian company?
No. While our headquarters are in Australia, all of our inventory is held within the United States. Your order will ship domestically via standard US carriers (UPS, FedEx, or USPS). You will receive domestic tracking numbers and should expect standard delivery times.
Does this change our pricing or sales tax status?
No. Our pricing remains the same. If your school is tax-exempt, no sales tax will be applied to your order.
What payment methods do you accept from schools?
To ensure efficient processing, we accept the following:
- Credit Cards / P-Cards: (Can be used directly on our website or invoice).
- ACH / Direct Deposit: (Bank details are provided on our invoices).
- Wire Transfer.
Please Note: Due to our international banking structure, we are unable to accept physical paper checks.
